The November Niners
The November Niners Now that the last remaining players to compete on one of the most famous, one of the most prestigious and definitely the one of the richest sporting event in the world, are completed, its time to learn a bit of them and have a taste of what could happen in the poker table come November. Dennis Phillips Dennis is a 53-year old truck driver from St. Louis, Missouri. With 900 grand in his pocket and a shot for couple of millions more, expect this humble but eager tournament amateur to slug it out against the established veteran of the trade. Ivan Demidov Ivan is a professional poker player from Moscow who cashed in on three events and landed on the Main Event finals. Surprised as he was, expect this soft-spoken online poker hotshot to twist the tables around in November. Scott Montgomery Scott is a Canadian resident who has the killer combination in WSOP a big bankroll and lots of experience. For those who tune in other tournaments, youve probably seen Scott in LA Poker Classic in 2008 where he finished fifth with almost 300 grand. Peter Eastgate Peter is a 22-year old poker player who hails from Denmark. But make no hasty remarks about his age because this young player is one of Denmarks recognized online professional players since 2005. He cashed $10,000 dollars in for a chance at the felt table, and what do you know, after much of the 6,800 heads are gone, one of the youngest player this year is sitting on the poker table this November. Ylon Schwartz Ylon is a chess player who has been gambling for 25 of his 38 years. He has made his living out of playing poker for several years, and he has no plans of stopping right now. He was the player who has the most number of cash-in in WSOP event with 12. Should he win, expect him to be out of sight for sometime because this New Yorker plans to escape to where you least expect him to be. Darus Suharto Canadian Darus Suharto is set to follow the footsteps of an unknown accountant who shocked the world how number crunchers play poker. An Indonesian-born residing in Toronto Canada, expect Moneymaker-incarnate try to turn an $80 investment into multi-million dollar prize money. David Rheem Probably the most famous of the nine, David Chino Rheem has made several previous appearances in WSOP final table. This 28-year-old professional poker player has been playing poker since he was 18. With fear set aside and Lady Luck in place, Chino is ready to take on the final table challenge. Craig Marquis This 23-year-old poker player hailing from Arlington, Texas is the one who beat Hamricks AJ out of the tournament with pocket queens. Expect Lady Luck to flutter around this young poker player, especially when you realized he was just playing poker for 18 months. Kelly Kim He maybe a wee bit shorthanded when it comes to bankroll, but dont expect him to back out just yet. A California-based business analyst who traded his portfolio for some chips, he has four months worth of time to think about how to make his narrow way to victory this November.

How Social Media has affected Poker
Poker December 19th, 2011 A couple of years ago, sites such as Pokerlistings started to report on various posts by poker pros on Twitter during their World Series of Poker coverage. From that point on, social media, and not to mention poker blogs has become a major tool for poker players to both communicate about their successes at the poker tables and even market themselves. Lets take a look at some poker players who are big at social media. Doyle Brunson would seem the least likely to use social media due to his age, but the Godfather of Poker is one of the biggest tweeters in the poker community. He started a long trend of blond jokes last year and regularly comments on everything from his poker game to sports. Erik Seidel uses social media to show a side of himself that normally only his close friends and family see. His tweets are commonly among the most humorous among players and this seemingly quiet man has a knack for comic timing.Kathy Liebert is another pro that often uses Twitter to talk about whatever the hell she wants, and she doesnt mind saying just that. Recently, she discovered sports betting and her persistent tweeting led to a prop bet between her and WPT photographer and reporter BJ Nemeth. Phil Hellmuth proves that whether he is at the poker tables, on TV, or on twitter, he loves to talk about himself. He is another frequent user of both Twitter and Facebook and you can guarantee that at least one tweet a day is going to be some type of veiled brag about his life. The Commissioner of the Epic Poker League, Annie Duke, is also a frequent tweeter. While she spends a good amount of twitter time promoting her book or the EPL, she also shares a good deal about her family and her general life. You can check out http://www.pokerlistings.com/blog/top-10-biggest-social-media-players-in-poker for more players who frequent social media. It shouldnt be a surprise that social media is a hit with poker players. Poker players have massive egos and self promotion is key in the modern era of poker. Social media is just one tool they can use that will not cut into their bankroll. Play Online Poker Poker Blog Copyright 2008 Just add chips LLCSubscribe to PokerBloggs.com

Top 5 Poker TV Shows
published on 03/04/11 at 9:00 am Looking to catch some great poker action on your television set this week? Then, this is the article that clues you in about where all the poker action is. So, read on to find out which TV channels you have to set your dial to for watching shows packed with poker glitz!! #1 Poker TV Show: GSNs High Stakes PokerThis show was launched in 2006 and was one-of-a-kind among all existing poker shows because one could sit alongside the top poker professionals from all corners of the globe, such as Barry Greenstein, Daniel Negreanu of PokerStars, and Jen Harman as opposed to the tournament format of other shows. Thus, this show allowed viewers to watch the poker biggies gamble with their personal cash (tons of it, really considering each player had to buy-in using USD 100,000 with variations of deals one doesnt normally get to see anywhere else. #2 Poker TV show: ESPNs World Series of PokerThis show has got to be the biggest ever in televised poker event history since nowhere else can viewers tune in to such a tremendous variety of poker games. You have Texas Holdem, 7-card Stud andOmaha played high with the Main Event being the real crowd puller because it is here that the nail-biting finish table action has everyone betting on who will walk away with the No Limit Holdem tournaments multi-million dollar first prize! #3 Poker TV show: World Poker TourThis show definitely has all the poker nuts tuning in to the WPT and also dragging along family and friends to watch the action after it launched with much fanfare in 2003. It rapidly climbed up the TRP charts and became the Travel Channels top rated program because of great poker tournament coverage from across the countrys best casinos. Each hand that is relayed on the TV screen causes hearts of poker fans to beat faster with the pace of the action speeding up across all the different channels the show airs on: from Fox Sports to Travel Channel to GSN, which is sponsored by PokerStars.net, viewers have a choice of which channel they want to change the dial for in order to be part of the poker claim to fame just like the pros featured on this show! #4 Poker TV show: Bravos Celebrity Poker ShowdownThis show really built up the games popularity, much like the shows listed above because it brought in a niche audience to watch their favorite stars vying for great poker prize pools amid light-hearted bantering and some fabulous on-screen chemistry between the hosts: Phil Gordon of FullTilt and Dave Foley who came across as naturals when it came to informative commentary of the shows action. Lots of poker fun, cool prizes, celebrity flavors and the rumors of poker veteran Phil Hellmuth taking to the hosting keep this TV show on the hot list of many card game enthusiasts. #5 Poker TV show: GSNs Poker RoyaleThis TV show about poker is unique because it combines two opposing groups that come together to duke it out at the poker table, across different segments like Girls versus Boys or Celebrities versus Professionals. Three players from each group face each other at the No Limit Holdem tournament and compete for the host of prizes and of course, fan favor!

Second Wave of Indictments
by Adam Marshall | May 24th, 2011 The first wave of federal indictments that took PokerStars, FullTilt, and Absolute Poker out of the U.S. market was called Black Friday. This second wave targeting sites like Doyle’s Room and TruePoker is now being called Blue Monday. The indictments came from Maryland early yesterday targeting the following sites… DoylesRoom.com TruePoker.com BookMaker.com 2Betsdi.com Funtimebingo.com GoldenArchCasino.com BetMaker.com BetGrandeSports.com Betehorse.com Beted.com Doyle Brunson formally announced his separation from Doyle’s Room earlier this month due to the current legal turmoil surrounding online poker. Obviously, a hallmark of a great player is knowing exactly when to cash in your chips. The indictments were the result of undercover work done by the Department of Homeland Security. An undercover payment processing business was created called Linwood Payment Solutions, which connected agents with executives inside those gaming operations. The covert processor made around 300,000 transactions in the meantime while tracking financial data. Of note is the fact that some of these sites operated outside the legally murky arena of online poker and in the much-more-illegal field of sports betting. Charges included money laundering and conducting an illegal gambling business but not the previous accusations of bank fraud or violations of the UIGEA. Although this attack pales in comparison to the Black Friday indictments, to some they still represent a push against poker as a whole. Others believe these to be the initial parts of the staging phase that ultimately leads to the long overdue regulation of online poker.

The graveyard of would-be poker greats is strewn with the shattered dreams of those poker wanna-be’s who put all their eggs in the basket of deceit and ended up in the graveyard of gloom. These poker players
you see
believed in the fallacies that are adrift in the casino parlors and in the online chat rooms about what constitutes a great poker player. These individuals are unable to distinguish poker truths from poker myths. As in other sports
there is no substitute for dedication and hard work in order to hone your craft. Come with us for a trip into the chat room of the poker pretender as he explains the reasons he is a loser at the game
while we debunk those poker myths that fools such as he held onto until they suffered their final poker demise.

Chat Room Poker Myths

The chat rooms on the Internet are filled with people holding similar interests. Their interests could be NASCAR racing
or automobiles
or kitchen renovation or the crafting of custom jewelry. In like manner
the online casino gambling fans have their own chat rooms. You just have to get in on a few of the conversations in the rooms and you know why they are in the chat room talking about the world’s most popular recreational activity as opposed to participating in it. Some of these people are headed inevitably to the graveside of poker gloom. These players are being propelled there because they believed the common poker myths that have developed over the years. Let’s examine a few of the poker myths swirling around in chat rooms and put them to rest.

Myth # 1-You Have to Bluff To Win

The myth that you need to bluff often and early in order to set up the players at the table for a big score later on in the game is pure nonsense. While a bluff or two might occasionally be an effective strategy
the bluff is a poor strategic move if it is attempted more than twice in a sitting. You would have to win a giant pot just to break even following your losses on the bluffs.

Myth # 2-Winning Players are Overaggressive

The myth that over aggressiveness in poker is the only way to win is absolutely incorrect. The only place that over aggressiveness at the poker table will get you will be a seat in the poker chat room because you will have no money in order to play poker online. The player who tries to force early wins in a game of poker generally doesn’t last too long in the game.

Myth # 3-Online Poker Sites are Rigged

Excuse me but have you never heard of eCogra
the oversight watchdog body of the online casino gambling industry? ECOGRA is the independent authority that ensures the highest of standards in the online casino gambling industry. Obviously
there are no issues regarding the legitimacy of online casino games and
whoever started this fallacy
simply had a run of bad luck and is destined for the graveyard of poker gloom where poker myths live on forever.
